Can someone really get hypnotized their first time?

Yes they can. Remember, everyone experiences this state on their own everyday. Some people go into a light state of hypnosis their first time, some people go into a deep state, but most people go into a medium state of hypnosis the first time. It doesn’t matter what level a person experiences, they still gain all of the benefits of the session. And, hypnosis is like anything else, you get better with practice and experience.

What does hypnosis feel like?

Hypnosis is a natural state of mind. A person experiencing this state can hear everything and is always in control. Everyone experiences hypnosis differently. Hypnosis can feel like relaxing in your favorite chair or recliner with a good book or listening to soothing music. Some people feel like their bodies are really heavy, like they are sinking into the chair. Some people report feeling light, like they are floating. Some people feel tingly all over. If a person is in a real deep state they may feel euphoric. Once again, everyone experiences hypnosis different.

Can a hypnotist make you do something you don’t want to do?

No, hypnosis is a consensual process where the hypnotherapist and the client work together as a team. The client is there because they want to be there and the hypnotherapist is like their guide or their coach, helping them to make those changes they came in to make. The client is always in control, can hear at all times, and can emerge themselves at anytime if they feel uncomfortable.

Does hypnosis really work for helping people to lose weight or stop smoking?

Absolutely, and hypnosis works for many other things as well, not just weight loss and smoking cessation. This is why it works. In hypnosis we are using the most powerful part of our mind – the subconscious mind. In our ordinary daily lives we are using our conscious mind, the weakest part of our mind. It is weak because this is where our temporary memory and will power (which is also temporary) resides. It has been scientifically proven that our CM can only hold small bits of information at one time.

Our SM is so powerful because this is the home of our imagination, permanent memory, habits, and feelings and emotions – basically who we really are. This is where all of our life long experiences are stored. Everything we have ever heard, felt, seen, or experienced in our lifetime is stored here in our SM. All of this information develops our beliefs, habits and who we are today. We like to compare the SM to the database on a computer. This is our permanent memory and when a person is in a state of hypnosis, they have access to all of this information. In hypnosis we can reprogram any information that is holding a person back from making those changes they need to make. Imagination also lies in the SM. People can use this powerful part of their mind to their advantage. What you imagine will come true. So, in hypnosis, people can imagine themselves in whatever successful situation they want and that will allow it to come true. Habits also reside in the SM. Unwanted habits can easily be removed and replaced with good healthy habits. Feelings and emotions are a big part of the SM, so if someone is over eating, smoking, or doing anything else in response to a negative emotion or feeling, this can be addressed in hypnosis as well. The SM is where the power lies and the only way we have access to this is through hypnosis.

What else can hypnosis be useful for?

Pain relief, stress management, remove negativity, improve mood, forgiveness therapy, grief therapy, increase self-confidence, remove fears, sleep well , discontinue bad habits, improve study habits, and sports improvement.

Are the results permanent?

Yes, because the suggestions that you willingly accepted go into your SM where the permanent memory resides. Your SM is like your hard drive on your computer. The SM retains everything it hears. Also, a person can learn and practice self-hypnosis for ongoing support.

What is self-hypnosis?

Self-hypnosis is a lot like relaxation, meditation, and prayer. . Basically, it is taking time out for yourself, relaxing in a quiet comfortable place where you can close down your conscious mind and really focus on what changes you want to make.

Does the American Medical Association recognize hypnosis?

Yes, as a matter of fact the AMA sanctioned the use of hypnosis as a legitimate form of therapy back in 1958.

Is stage hypnosis real?

Yes. The people who go up on stage are there because they volunteered to go on stage and to have fun. Since they volunteered to go up on stage, they want to be there and since they want to be there, they will accept the hypnotist’s suggestions as long as they have no moral objection. The same people who happily entertain the audience will accept the suggestion to forget their name. They have accepted the suggestion because they want to. However, they will not accept a suggestion to go rob a bank or hurt anybody because they have what we call a Critical Factor, which will immediately take over and say “No way!” And they will simply refuse the suggestion or spontaneously come out of hypnosis.
