Frequently Asked Questions

What is Self-Empowerment?

We are entering the age of empowerment. Empower in the dictionary means "to give official or legal power to". Empowerment to me means taking back your power, not as in power over someone else, but power as in healing or changing your Self and your life. We continue to look outward for help and healing and too often hand out our power to others. Empowerment also means to take back our power by looking inside ourselves and tapping into our own inner resources that we already possess to help ourselves change, heal and transform. True healing and change comes from within! With dis-ease, anxiety, and depression on the rise it is imperative that we learn to empower our Selves!

What is typically involved in a session?

You will experience approximately a half hour of life coaching; learning the latest tools and techniques that will help you to quickly manifest your goals. You will also have the opportunity to experience approximately an hour of inner healing/hypnosis to remove any mental or emotional blocks that are keeping you from reaching those goals.

What is Hypnosis?

There are many definitions of hypnosis, but I will try to explain it in a way that is easier to understand. Hypnosis is a state of focused consciousness where people use their subconscious mind (referred to as SM) instead of their conscious mind (referred to as CM). Our CM is what we use in our normal everyday life. In hypnosis we use our SM – which is the powerful part of our mind. Hypnosis could also be described as an altered state of consciousness, heightened suggestibility, extreme relaxation, or guided meditation.

What is the difference between hypnosis and hypnotherapy?

Hypnosis is a state of focused consciousness that allows you to use your SM. Your hypnotherapist will assist you in learning how to achieve this state by helping you to focus your mind by guiding you and giving you instructions. .Therapy is anything that is done to move someone toward health and wholeness. Therefore, hypnotherapy is when a professional uses hypnosis to help people succeed in making healthy changes in their lives by getting to the root cause of their problem and by removing any blocks holding them back from making those changes.

What is a hypnotherapist?

A hypnotherapist is a guide or a coach who employs hypnosis not only to give suggestions for change, but to discover a person’s true reasons for resisting change, and then enabling them to release those causes. When the root cause of a problem or any mental blocks are released, the mind is free to respond to and accept positive suggestions for change. A hypnotherapist also helps clients discover how to experience well being by motivating them to use their own inner resources in ways that promote health and wellness.

How does hypnosis work?

When a hypnotherapist guides you into a state of relaxation by giving you simple instructions. It is like playing Simon Says. When you are focused on their instructions your CM naturally closes down allowing your SM to open. During this time of relaxation, positive and healthy suggestions are easily accepted if you want them and they will go into your SM where they will be always with you. Hypnosis enhances a person’s ability to use their subconscious mind or imagination to remember, use their creative abilities, and to respond to suggestions for change.

Will a person accept a suggestion they don’t like?

No, remember a person in this state is always in control and hear at all times. If they hear a suggestion they don’t like or agree with, that suggestion will simply be rejected. This happens because we have what we call a Critical Factor that acts like a filter in between the CM and the SM, and if it doesn’t like a suggestion it will reject it.

Who can be hypnotized?

Just about everyone can be hypnotized. Using the most modern hypnosis techniques anybody of normal intelligence and who can follow instructions can be hypnotized.

Is hypnosis safe?

That is a very good question since Hollywood movies have portrayed hypnosis to be scary and mind controlling. The truth is that hypnosis is very safe because it is a very natural state of mind. In fact, we naturally experience this state of mind every day. Let me give you a couple examples. If you are driving in your car and you almost miss your turn because you are so focused on a specific thought - that is a state of hypnosis! Another example is when you are watching a really good TV program or involved in a good book and someone is talking to you, but you don’t hear a word they say because you are so focused on that show or that book - that is a state of hypnosis! Once again, one of the definitions of hypnosis is focused consciousness. Daydreaming is also a state very similar to hypnosis.

Can someone get stuck in hypnosis?

No, it is impossible to get stuck in hypnosis. Nobody has ever been stuck in hypnosis. A person who is in this state is always in control, can hear at all times, and can emerge themselves at anytime.

How does someone go into a state of hypnosis?

A person can easily go into a state of hypnosis simply by relaxing and by following the hypnotist’s instructions. The hypnotist or hypnotherapist is like a guide. They guide you by giving you suggestions to help you relax physically and mentally. All you have to do is focus on what he or she is telling you and follow instructions.
